Brokerage comparison

NextHome Shore Success vs. eXp Realty

A cloud-based national brokerage versus a locally owned Jersey Shore office — two very different answers to what agents need.

eXp Realty pioneered the cloud-brokerage model: no traditional local offices, a virtual campus, a company-wide split-and-cap structure, plus revenue-share and stock-award programs for agents who attract other agents. NextHome Shore Success is the opposite bet — a locally owned NextHome franchise in Sea Girt with a physical office, direct access to the broker/owner, and a full in-house settlement ecosystem serving Ocean and Monmouth County.

A 2026 twist worth knowing: in May 2026, eXp's parent company (now trading as AGNT, Inc.) acquired NextHome, the national franchise our office belongs to. The two brands operate independently with separate leadership and models — but it means this comparison is now between two approaches under the same corporate family: eXp's virtual cloud brokerage, or a locally owned NextHome office like ours. Same platform strength behind both; very different day-to-day experience for the agent.

Brokerage programs, splits, caps, and fees change and often vary by office, market, and agreement. Details below describe each model in general, publicly known terms — always verify current specifics directly with any brokerage you are considering, including us. We think transparency wins: our current structure is multiple competitive splits plus a flat $599 transaction fee covering E&O and franchise fees (subject to change).

Who each model tends to fit

eXp Realty often fits agents who: thrive independently online, want to build revenue-share income, and don't need a local office or in-person broker support.

NextHome Shore Success often fits agents who: want a broker who knows their name and their deals, value in-person coaching and a local office, and would rather keep economics simple than manage a downline.

Run your own numbers

Model debates are abstract; your commission check isn't. Put your transactions, split, and fees into the income calculator and see the difference at your production level. Then read how the NJ license transfer actually works — it's simpler than most agents think.
